Enkripsi

Bila aplikasi memerlukan enkripsi, maja encryption key dibentuk dari link key, suatu ciphering offset number, dan suatu random number.

Apabila autheutification key selalu 128 bit, maka encryption key mungkin lebih pendek untuk mengakomodasi batasan retriksi enkripsi yang ditetapkan pemerintah, yang berbeda dari suatu negara ke negara lain.

Suatu encryption key dibentuk setiap kali suatu perangkat memasuki encryption mode, jadi berbeda dengan authentication key yang digunakan dalam keseluruhan sesi.
